- Create a target using a software site and indicate some elements which have environment based filters (e.g., the CDT call graph feature that only works for linux) - if you are not on linux, this fails. If you are on linux, it passes. - switch to the Environment tab in the target editor and change the OS setting to linux - if you are not on linux (i.e., it was failing) it continues to fail - edit the software site and re-select the same feature - notice that it now passes It seems that tweaking the environment settings is not hooked into triggering re-resolution. Assuming the Include all Environments check box is NOT set, changing the environment should cause a re-resolve and allow the indicated feature to be added.
Sounds reasonably easy to fix, marked for RC1.
could be interesting to fix for 3.7 but it could also wait. One thing to consider is when to trigger the re-resolve. Changing the environment would typically involve changing the OS, WS and prehaps ARCH. If we re-resolve on each change that could be very expensive. Perhaps on save or page change?
This did not turn out to be as straightforward as I had hoped. The code differs between the wizard and editor pages and we would have to figure out some appropriate time to resolve (at save doesn't work for the wizard). I'm not even sure if at tab switch this would work well because resolving locks disables the wizard. This isn't a priority for 3.7 so I'm removing the milestone.
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant. -- The automated Eclipse Genie.
