Build Identifier: 20110301-1815 Glassfish Server Tools v1.7.1.201102261603 are installed. On a perspective showing the Servers tab, right-click the Servers tab, select New | Server. Expand the Glassfish selections, select Glassfish 3.1. If the "Server's host name:" field is set to anything but "localhost", the system considers it a remote server and won't allow local setup. This did not happen on previous versions of the plugin, 1.6.x - 1.7.0.x. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install Glassfish Server Tools v1.7.1.201102261603 from http://download.java.net/glassfish/eclipse/helios 2. In a Servers tab, right-click, select New | Server. Set the "Server's host name:" field to a locally resolvable name or IP address, even 127.0.0.1. Anything but localhost. 3.Click Next. An error should appear at the top of the dialog, "error testing remote server: Socket is not connected." No opportunity to define this as a local server is presented. Alternately: 1. After installing Glassfish Server Tools, when Eclipse restarts, there should be a new server definition for Internal Glassfish 3.1. Double-click that entry to bring up the properties screen, then change the value in the "Host name:" field to a locally resolvable name or IP address. Attempt to start the server, run on debug, and receive the error "GlassFish Remote Servers cannot be start[sic] from this machine."
I've also experiencing this problem. I need work around of this problem, because my company use proxy. I cannot use localhost.
Same here. Nothing works, but "localhost," for the server address in the "New Server" wizard. I have GlassFish Server Tools 2.0.0.2 on Indigo.
