Which locale you are using ? You Should use Hebrew system local with Hebrew user preferences.

When starting Eclipse, I used the following option: -nl iw I also have all the workstation Regional and Language Options set to Hebrew. Could you explain which preferences you're referring to when you say "Hebrew user preferences"?

By Hebrew user pref I meant to regional options but as you specified you set it to Hebrew so I still don't know why it's not reproducible on your side.

Which kind of connections have you tried this with? I've tried with SSH Only and Linux (dstore-based).

I don't think the Windows DStore connection type is very commonly used. If this only occurs on Windows DStore connections, then the I wouldn't consider this as severe an issue as with other connection types.
Created attachment 194485 [details] Windows dstore connection with Hebrew folder name I don't know enough about BIDI to know what the proper way is for inserting and displaying the BIDI text. Using a windows dstore connection, some Hebrew text displays while others don't. The "???? ???" folder shows correctly using Windows Explorer and the RSE Local connection but not in DOS or the RSE Windows connection. One of the Hebrew text folders that does show was created via cut and paste of text from the Internet while an other was created via the keyboard - neither of those show via Windows Explorer, DOS or the RSE Local connection.

1. Problem is not reproduced with Linux connection 2. The problem is resolved when using the attached dstore_core.jar by dave
