Description Jeffrey Overbey CLA 2011-04-06 13:52:32 EDT
From a user (4/5/2011):

[The indexer] slows down severely after processing about 400 of the 600 files in my project. If I double -Xmx in eclipse.ini and restart, it gets through 500 before bogging down.

Photran 6 with -Xmx512m
first pass: 20 seconds
indexing, first 300: 1.0 minutes
indexing, last 300: 3.7 minutes
photran60vpg2 size: 130 MB
photran60vpg-log.txt: 260 KB

Photran 7 with -Xmx1024m
first pass: ~ 5 seconds
indexing, first 300: 0.9 minutes
indexing, last 300: 6.2 minutes
photran70vpg.new: 2.6 MB
photran70vpg-log.txt: 230 KB

With -Xmx512m, the Eclipse UI became unresponsive before Photran 7 finished indexing.
Comment 1 Jeffrey Overbey CLA 2011-05-16 13:57:57 EDT
Pulled RAMDB from the 7.0 release. Consider addressing this for 8.0.
Comment 2 Jeffrey Overbey CLA 2011-12-07 19:09:24 EST
Including RAMDB in 8.0 does not look feasible due to resource constraints. Closing now; will reopen if necessary.
