Description Joel Rosi-Schwartz CLA 2011-04-05 12:22:35 EDT
The steps required to configure multiple instances of Virgo on the same host should be documented. Presently the Virgo User Guide contains section "4.5 Starting with a Custom Configuration Directory" which explains that a alternate configuration directory is required and how to launch with that alternate directory. It does not, however, explain what change are to made to the files in the alternate directory. This should be added.

There are in fact two ways to run multiple instances. The first is use create two physical instances of Virgo on disk. This method should only take the modification of port numbers to avoid conflicts. The second is the aforementioned alternated configuration directory. This will require more extensive changes to the configuration.

"Bug 307737 - Starting Virgo With a Custom Configuration Directory" relates to a deficiency in the current implementation whereby the serviceability and work directories of all instances are inappropriately shared.
