Where has ResourceForIEditorInputFactory.createResourceFor(IFile) gone?

Please use the API tooling to stablize of M6 APIs.

It's ResourceForIEditorInputFactory.createResourceFor(IStorage) now.
Sorry for any inconvenience caused. We are just in the process to set up API tooling.

we've marked a couple of packages x-internal. Would be good if you could check as soon as possible whether you use any internal stuff.

Surely you cannot do nothing? This was a cosmetic probably useful change, not an important fix, so the API should be re-instated.

M6 is the API freeze after which you surely need to escalate through PMCs to change APIs?

And marking packages as x-internal must surely wait till 2.1 if not 3.0?

I apologize for being a bit late (two weeks) with the API freeze. 
But we won't wait until next year with marking packages 'x-internal' nor are we
going to have a major release for that matter.
I'm pretty sure you are going to benefit from that as well.
