Build Identifier: M20110210-1200 It would be a nice addition to have a link to the core "Platform Runtime Binary" on the main Eclipse Download page at http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/. Some users might prefer to assemble their Eclipse installation from the ground up. For myself, the only Eclipse components I wish to use are PyDev and EGit. The closest bundle matching this from http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/ is the JavaScript bundle, which still forces CVS and Web Tools upon the user. I finally found the basic "Platform Runtime Binary" for Helios available at http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops/R-3.6.2-201102101200/index.php but this took quite a bit of digging. The Platform Runtime Binary has allowed me to build a bare Eclipse installation matching my exact needs. I can't help but imagine there are others out there like myself who would prefer to trim the unnecessary pieces from their Eclipse installation. The option already exists as the Platform Runtime Binary, but this is currently hard to find for those not intimately familiar with the Eclipse website. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Visit eclipse.org 2. Try to find a minimal bundle 3.
In principle, I think this is a good idea. In practice, however, without some investment into the user experience, I think that this will just confuse people.
Hmm...what about adding a short paragraph to the bottom of the main downloads page mentioning that the SDKs and individual component binaries can be found at <link to relevant drops page, i.e. http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops/R-3.6.2-201102101200/index.php>? As it is, finding the above component drops page wasn't just a little out of the way, it was actually difficult. Considering that those are "downloads" in their own right, it seems it would make sense to provide some sort of link to these downloads from the main "Downloads" portion of the website. Said link doesn't need to be presented as the same sort of packaged bundle links already there, but -something- would be really helpful.

If you click on 'Other Downloads' in the 'Eclipse Classic 3.6.2' section, you will get to this other page. http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/ From there you can pick a version and get to the page you're talking about.
That's good to know, although it definitely is not apparent unless you already know this is there. The fact that it is tied directly to that single bundle as an 'Other Downloads' link makes it very easy to overlook.
I'll close this as wontfix. There's enough going on on the downloads page, and there is a reasonable workaround. There's just not enough space to put everything.
