As discussed during impromptu tycho-vs-p2 session last week, it would be helpful it was possible to access all p2 sources via a single git repository. The idea is to make it easier to developer and contribute back to p2 tycho-specific features.

Many projects are switching to git now. Perhaps it's time for p2 to abandon CVS altogether?

  The idea is to progressively abandon it. Leave the 3.7.x stream in CVS, and once 3.7.0 shipped move the 3.8 work to git. I don't want to move it to git now in 3.7 because I think it would be too disruptive.
  So in the meantime, we would have a read only git repo.
