The map refresh can lag, so a timestamp or step value will help the user know if they are seeing current values. 

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Hover mouse over region
2. Tooltip with values appears - but the simulation is still running, so the values may be stale.

There are warnings in MapCanvas saying that values are being read/modified by a synthetic accessor method.
Is this OK?
