I received this IOException when clicking on Assume Changed:

The repository I cloned from is:
git://git.springsource.org/spring-ide/spring-ide.git

This happened just after I hit Bug 339158.  Also, when in the git repository view, I see under 'References' that "File is too large".

Was fixed in 2.2 with https://git.eclipse.org/r/#/c/2739/
