Build: I20110114-1005 By dragging editors around in the editor area, I am able to make all editors disappear completely. After that point, attempting to open any editor results in an NPE, and Eclipse needs to be restarted to get it back into a working state. And here are steps to reproduce: Open multiple editors Drag one editor below the others to create a split area Then drag that lower editor to be on the right hand side of the other editors so that they become side-by-side editors. -> All editors vanish.
One final note. After restarting, all the editors have this text: No editor descriptor for id org.eclipse.ui.internal.emptyEditorTab Once these broken editors are closed, I am back to normal.
This might be bug 335050.
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.
