We should consider integrating a static code analysis tool (e.g. FindBugs) on the build server in order to reveal violations of our coding conventions, in particular the ban of parameter assignments (see bug 338065).

+1. I think we can make more use of FindBugs and Checkstyle integration in Eclipse to find violations of our coding conventions during the development time . Show them as warnings. For new comers will be very helpful :).
