Build Identifier: 20100917-0705

i was trying the example mentioned in http://www.vogella.de/articles/EclipsePlugIn/article.html...
here in section 3.2 i am told to add command id by right click on the commands extension... but when i give right click i get only "generic" option... i cannot see command option... i have seen the installation guide and added Eclipse plugin development environment... even then i can only see "generic" option... i could not find the problem.. please help me out... and its happening only in my system...

Reproducible: Always

Ensure that your plug-in includes org.eclipse.ui as a dependency (required bundle) and that the plug-in is available in your target platform (if you can add the dependency, it must be available, but you can also check that it exists in the Target Platform State View).

If the eclipse.ui plug-in is not available, the schema file defining the extension point is not available and therefore we cannot populate the menu.

thanks for reply....

org.eclipse.ui is in the dependencies but even then i could not get the options... for reference please see the first note in 2.1 section,,,
http://www.vogella.de/articles/EclipseCommands/article.html...
that note is regarding the "generic" option that i mentioned.. i tried it so many times but of i=no result....

thanks for guding me this way.....

Only way I know of getting only the generic option is when the schema file is unavailable. The schema file should be in the org.eclipse.ui plug-in in your install.

Your issue still sounds like a configuration problem, not a bug, as it can't be reproduced elsewhere. Please confirm that you downloaded the "Eclipse for RCP/Plug-in Developers" build and that the org.eclipse.ui plug-in exists in the plugins directory of your install. You could also open the jar an check for the commands schema file inside of it.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
