Description Martin Oberhuber CLA 2011-02-21 13:06:34 EST
In CDT 7.0, source bundles are missing for following plugins:

   org.eclipse.cdt.debug.ui.memory.memorybrowser_1.2.1.201011171434.jar
   org.eclipse.cdt.debug.ui.memory.search_1.2.0.201011171434.jar
   org.eclipse.cdt.debug.ui.memory.traditional_1.2.0.201011171434.jar
   org.eclipse.cdt.debug.ui.memory.transport_2.1.0.201011171434.jar
   org.eclipse.cdt.p2_1.0.0.201011171434.jar

This is very problematic for adoption of CDT into our commercial product, since we want to ship source for all EPL code in order to comply with the EPL requirement of making source available -- this is easiest when source is shipped along with the binaries.

Could this please be fixed in a 7.0.2+ maintenance build such that we can adopt it into our product on top of Helios SR2.

Ping?

Not having source for all EPL bundles in CDT is a real problem for us.
We'd really appreciate getting this fixed!
Comment 2 Doug Schaefer CLA 2011-03-14 10:18:36 EDT
cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@dev.eclipse.org:/cvsroot/tools co -r CDT_7_0_2 org.eclipse.cdt

That would be the easiest way to get CDT source for CDT 7.0.2 for example.

Ping ?

Having source bundles not only aids in debugging, but also helps adopters
integrate TCF into their products. Since by shipping the source with the
product, the EPL requirement of "making source available" is most easily met.

With cdt's releng being changed for git, could this issue please be addressed?

For our current product release, we've (again) run at risk not providing proper source due to a version mismatch. Getting source out of CVS is not a good option since the label cannot be computed automatically so it remains a manual step.

CDT does ship source bundles for all its other bundles.
Please fix the releng process to provide source for these bundles as well.

Thanks!

Ping, could this be considered for 8.0.1 ?
I hear that with Tycho, source bundle generation is easy...
Comment 6 Doug Schaefer CLA 2011-09-12 14:35:46 EDT
I've added them. There is a new feature for memory.source and I have included the p2.source bundle with the p2 feature since it's small and the p2 feature shouldn't really be used by anyone.
