Attached is the Orion logo we have created for the Orion project. I have submitted in eps and jpg format. I plan to write some usage guidelines that will describe how the logo can be used. In the meantime, it is okay to use the three dots as an icon. Here is a detailed technical description of the logo. I would request that we consistently use the logo as designed: The font is Futura Bold from Linotype Orion Logo Color: Grey CMYK: 0, 0, 0, 50 RGB: 128, 128, 128 HEX: #808080 Orion Logo Circle Element Color: Golden Yellow CMYK: 0, 15, 100, 0 RGB: 255, 217, 0 HEX: #FFD900

(In reply to comment #0) > Orion Logo Circle Element Color: Golden Yellow > CMYK: 0, 15, 100, 0 > RGB: 255, 217, 0 > HEX: #FFD900 The attached JPEG does not use the listed RGB values. Do we need a new version of the JPEG, or are the above values not correct?
I checked in a preliminary logo and favicon. Once we know the correct colors this needs to be done again. Also, not sure if others agree with my "clipping" of the logo to gain a little bit more vertical space.
Is the one pixel white line at the top intentional? (I would think not, but you never know.) If not intentional, I can try to get rid of it by changing the css.

Also, not sure if others agree with my "clipping" > of the logo to gain a little bit more vertical space. I think this looks like an error to clip the top and bottom dots. Can we just use a wordmark that has a yellow "O"? I didn't make this change without comment from Ian yet...
Created attachment 189389 [details] screenshot and mockup This mockup shows: 1) what boris did, the clipping of the dots 2) the idea of using only one dot. Now that I see the second idea, it's kind of boring, but clipping the dots looks like someone forgot to set the height. I agree with Boris that it's too tall as is.
Created attachment 189424 [details] Mockup clipping with fade I is a quick version of Boris' clipping with a bit of a fade on the top and bottom dots so that it doesn't look like an accident.

Sorry Ian, my comment was about the web page header in Orion, not the icon. The icon is fine.

Did the designer generate the JPEG? The yellow in the JPEG file is RGB: 250, 207, 14
(In reply to comment #12) > Sorry Ian, my comment was about the web page header in Orion, not the icon. The > icon is fine. I fixed the "extra line" problem in the editor and navigator. I also changed the breadcrumb "current location" color to more closely match the orion logo color. While doing this, my observation is that the color in the logo looks better than the RGB color as specified. The one in the logo is just a bit darker/more orangey, and this made it easier for me to come up with a breadcrumb color that was readable and still matched.

Screenshot to clarify my comment above. I'm cool with whatever colors we end up with for the logo. Just wanted to point out there is a relationship between the logo colors and skinning choices we make. This screenshot shows us using colors derived from the logo color for text. (We had an orange color before and it was looking out of place.) This is a bit off topic for this bug, I just wanted to point out the relationship and perhaps ask for some guidance from the designers with respect to colors for things like "text on white, text on dark" etc.
Created attachment 189795 [details] JPG Format Color Correction for the JPG.
Created attachment 189796 [details] AI Format I've uploaded this AI file with the corrected colors instead of the EPS file since it seems to freeze every time I try to save it.
Created attachment 189800 [details] JPG Format Trying again. This one should be correct.
Nathan, would you be able to replace the current files in our Git repository (favicon.ico, orion.png with ones that have the correct colors?
(In reply to comment #19) > Nathan, would you be able to replace the current files in our Git repository > (favicon.ico, orion.png with ones that have the correct colors? Nathan, can you provide an orion.png and favicon.ico with correct colours? Just attaching here would be fine.
Created attachment 194050 [details] Favicon.ico I'm not 100% sure these are this is the right color since .ico files are a bit cryptic. But here is the .ico file.
It also looks like the orion.png file is no longer in use for the current theme. The logo is now part of headerLogo.gif, i can tell you however that its yellow is not correct. Its reporting as 248,200,32 (RGB) to me. I do not have the source file however to make the change to this.
I can correct what is used in the header, but can someone please verify that the color Ian specified in comment #0 is indeed what I should use? We've got three different colors floating around in this bug...
Ian, in comment #9 you said you would check with the designer. Did she get back to you? If we can't get an answer I suggest we use the spec from the designer in comment #0. Seems most likely the JPG was just generated with the wrong color palette or something.
(In reply to comment #24) > Seems most likely the JPG was just generated with the wrong > color palette or something. I believe your right Susan. I've conferred with Ian and we agree the colors the he made in Comment 0 are indeed the correct ones.
Created attachment 194179 [details] screenshot somethings funny with the new favicon. The color indeed looks brighter, but the circles are squished. I'm going to mark this bug for M8. - ensure that favicon.ico is the right color (and circular) - ensure that the sliced logos used in our theme have the right yellow color
moving styling bugs to RC1
we are using the specified orion yellow in the new header that was released in bug 347181.
