Description zagoti CLA 2011-02-16 01:43:20 EST
Build Identifier: M20100909-0800

I have installed the current version of m2eclipse 0.12.1. When i start eclipse, the plugin tries to update an index from a repository. In my local settings.xml i have configured a mirror for all repositories. It is a local tomcat/archiva installation. Sometimes i forget to start tomcat. Then when i try to start eclipse it will hang because m2eclipse gets an IOException.
I believe the same bug will apply to a remote repository if you want to start eclipse but are not connected to the internet.
I am not sure if this might also affect this bug report: I have JBoss Tools installed. The stack trace says something about jboss.netty classes. I will attach the stack trace.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Configure a mirror for * in .m2/settings.xml (my mirror is a local tomcat/archiva)
2. Make sure the mirror refuses the connection (shutdown tomcat)
3. start eclipse
4. eclipse will hang with "Initializing Java Tooling 1%"
5. look into workspace/.metadata/.log, the last entry should be "java.io.IOException: Connection refused: no further information"
6. kill eclipse
7. make the mirror available (i would start tomcat)
8. start eclipse
9. everything is fine again

I have to apologize, hopefully nobody else spent time on this.

This is not a problem of the m2eclipse plugin.

The problem actually grew worse in the last hours. Eventually i deinstalled the JBoss Tools and reinstalled them. Now the problem is gone. Maybe a conflict with the JBoss Maven Integration. I skipped this plugin when i reinstalled the JBoss Tools.
