There are a number of release engineering and EF development process needs for each given release...from IP review to review materials creation, to New & Noteworthy, to build, to updating documentation, etc. Here is an initial list of the needed tasks for accomplishing ECF 3.5 release. The deadline for EF materials creation is March 2, 2011, and the expected approximate release data for ECF 3.5 is March 14. This bug can be used for ECF committers and contributors to coordinate the effort to complete these tasks. Work Items for ECF 3.5 Review and Release a) Create Eclipse Foundation Review Materials (hard deadline: March 2...going to Eclipse Foundation for scheduling review). The template for these review materials already exists from previous ECF reviews in the ECF documentation CVS repo. ECF 3.4 review materials are here: dev.eclipse.org /cvsroot/org.eclipse module: www/ecf file: reviews/ECF_Project_3.4_Release_Review.ppt A new set of powerpoint slides can be created from the 3.4 versions with the following major new plan features for 3.5: Remote Service Admin bug 324215 - Primary committer: Scott Lewis XML-RPC bug 325813 - Primary committer: Pavel Samolisov b) Create New and Noteworthy Page. Deadline: ~March 2. See a/review slides...the html New and Noteworthy should be the same major new plan features as appear in the review materials c) Fix remaining 3.5 bugs (as much as possible) targeted for 3.5 release. Here is query for remaining 3.5 targeted bugs: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/buglist.cgi?classification=RT;query_format=advanced;bug_status=NEW;bug_status=ASSIGNED;bug_status=REOPENED;target_milestone=3.5.0;product=ECF d) Create a Release_3_5 branch, and associated new Hudson project to build (with jar signing). Whomever does the branch creation and Release_3_5 Hudson project creation will probably have to consult with Markus. e) Deal with Releng/Build issues (e.g. build breaks, needed feature refactorings, etc) as they arise. f) Submit updated IP log to EF (Deadline: March 2). This should be easy to do given the IP log generator available here http://www.eclipse.org/projects/ip_log.php?projectid=rt.ecf
I'm going to create the review material (a) and the New and Noteworthy Page (b) afterwards.
(In reply to comment #1) > I'm going to create the review material (a) and the New and Noteworthy Page (b) > afterwards. Thanks kindly Sebastian. It might be a good idea to create an initial draft of the review materials, make them available (check them into CVS), and then ask for public/community review...so that others can help with editing prior to the deadline. Also...others might be able to do (or help with) the N&N as well.

I will do (e) and (f) while involving in (c) as well.
The deadline for the ECF 3.5 review materials is March 2...we need to provide them to the Eclipse Foundation on 2nd so they can distributed a week prior to the review. I (and probably others) would like to have at least a couple of days to review, comment on, and revise the slides, and next Wed (week from today) is March 2. So I would like to get an initial cut out to the ecf-dev mailing list pretty soon now. Would by Friday 2/25 be possible?

Would by Friday 2/25 be possible? Scott, for me it would be 26th (Sat). Hope you are ok with that. Anyway I'll try to do it by Friday. Thanks and Regards, Harshana

Assigning to myself.
ECF Release Review (3/9/2011) was successful. See below for note from Wayne. Hello Scott. The EMO has declared your review to be successful based on your review documents and community feedback. Congratulations on your successful Release Review! Please post on your Communication Channel that your review was successful. Then you may release ECF 3.5. Thanks. Please let me know if you have any questions. Wayne Thanks to Sebastian and Harshana particularly for the work on the review materials. I'll resolve this bug on Monday 3/14/2011 when we've actually released ECF 3.5.
ECF 3.5 successfully released on 3/14/2011. Thanks to everyone that helped with the review materials preparation, documentation, and with releng tasks...particularly Sebastian Schmidt, and Markus Kuppe.
