Hi.
Currently, you can’t seem to specify a feature catgory if you ship your plugin as a product extension (.eclipseextension) though site.xml lets you do that if you ship it as  an update site.
Please consider adding the same ability to the former.

Product extensions are a deprecated concept so this is unlikely to happen.

The Eclipse Update component is no longer under development, and no longer exists in the Eclipse Platform 4.x stream. If this problem still occurs in Eclipse Platform 4.2 or later, please enter a new bug report against Equinox p2.
