Basically when I want to copy text to a remote desktop window it doesn't work through eclipse, but it does work through everything else.

I can even paste to other programs and then copy that and paste into remote desktop.

Note that copying a patch to the clipboard and applying it remotely does work.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Copy some text
2. Try to paste inside remote desktop

So let me get this straight:

1. Start up Remote Desktop and connect to another system.
2. On the remote system run Eclipse
3. On the local system open up TextEdit or anything else, and copy some text to the clipboard.
4. Switch back to Remote Desktop, with Eclipse in the foreground, and then paste text into Remote Desktop.

The text should somehow go to Eclipse.

Is this correct? And is this Carbon or Cocoa? The version indicated is 4.1 but that doesn't sound right.

I believe I have the same problem.

Summary: My guess would be that the hotkeys are not working when editing xml files in "Raw" mode.

My PC (client): Windows 7 Home Premium, service pack 1
Remote PC: Windows 7 Professional, service pack 1

I start a VPN connection, then Remote Desktop. Within the Remote Desktop session I start Eclipse "classic" v4.1.2 to work on an Android 3.1 project (I have installed JDK 7, Android SDK, and the ADT Plugin as per the instructions at http://developer.android.com/sdk/installing.html).

There are problems when editing .xml file, in "Raw" mode rather than in "Graphical Layout". The problems experienced are:
* ctrl-c does not place the selected text in the clipboard
* ctrl-x does not place the selected text in the clipboard
* ctrl-v does not paste the clipboard text
* del does not delete characters to the right of the cursor
* ctrl-a does not select all the text

These hotkeys work:
* ctrl-f to open the find dialog
* ctrl-shift-f to format the text
* ctrl-z to undo
* ctrl-y to redo

Using the mouse to copy, cut and paste works. However even when copying via the mouse, pasting via ctrl-v still does not work.

Backspace works (i.e. it deletes text to the left of the cursor.

There do not appear to be problems when editing .java files; doing the same tests as with the xml file works.

In addition, left-mouse clicking on a line of text has an effect on the display of that line. Sometimes the line disappears and other times the following line is displayed. Again, these problems are only when editing xml files in "Raw" mode rather than in the "Graphical Layout" and not when editing java files.

These problems are all within the Remote Desktop session. However copying text from my PC/client and attempting to paste it within the remote session fails within Eclipse but works in other applications, such as Notepad.

I too have the same problem:

1- Open Eclipse on local Mac
2- Copy text from Eclipse
3- Open Remote Desktop Connection to connect to a Windows Server 2008.
4- Open Notepad and try to paste text. There's nothing to copy.

Thanks

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
