Description Matt CLA 2011-01-31 16:41:39 EST
Build Identifier: Build id: M20100909-0800

I have correctly installed the JRE (Sun JRE) and eclipse has started fine, but I keep getting these messages:
"Failed to connect to socket /tmp/fam"

I do have GTK 2.2 or higher available, but now I'm not sure that this issue is a GTK version issue.

I believe this is from usage of the File Alteration Monitor...
I cannot find a way to turn it off.

It is not fatal and after a certain increment of time, it stops trying to connect to the socket and goes on with life and lists the files on the filesystem.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. start eclipse with "eclipse -vm $PWD/jre1.6.0_23/bin"
2. Click through to open the file browser: File->Open
3. Try to find a file and browse the filesystem

I found a machine on our network that doesn't display this issue...
So I think maybe is was a library issue or some part of GTK I couldn't configure myself...

Whatever the case, I'm running now...
sorry for the bother
