I did some digging in the logs, and didn't see anything terribly helpful. The closest thing I could find online is: http://issues.hudson-ci.org/browse/HUDSON-6604 .  

I suspect this was related to the odd states the slaves sometimes seem to get themselves into.

I'm going to close as 'not_eclipse' only because this appears to be a hudson/java issue and not something specific to us.  If that's incorrect please feel free to adjust the state.
