I have a dual monitor setup. I am using Eclipse Helios on Windows XP

Every time I select a workspace from the workspace selection dialog box, the eclipse window maximizes and then resizes to the size of the workspace selection dialog box.

I then have to maximize it manually. Once I close it whilst it's maximized and then restart eclipse the same thing happens again and it doesn't open maximized.

If I check the UI preference file, you can see the width and height values change from when it's maximized. But when you close the window while it's maximized the height and width values are changed back to that of Workspace Selection Dialog box.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Need a dual monitor setup as don't think it happens on single monitor setup.
1. Open eclipse and select a workspace
2. Maximize the eclipse workspace window.
3. Close eclipse while it is maximized.
4. Open eclipse and select the workspace.

After step 4 you would expect eclipse to open in the maximized dimension.

Works fine for me with Eclipse 3.6.1 and Windows 7. Please try with a fresh install and a fresh workspace (to rule out any third-party plug-ins).

And please tell us how your monitors are aligned (size and relative positions, of main and secondary screens).

Tried with just fresh workspace same issue.
You can see the workspace maximize and then resize to the size of the workspace selection dialog box just as before.

My Primary and secondary monitors are both 1920 * 1080.

Tried with a fresh install and a fresh workspace Build No [20100917-0705] Same result.

Also just to clarify. I am using XP 64Bit.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
