I get this a lot as well. I work around it by just manually opening the other file.
Well I do that too ... until it stops working at all. That is three/four files hops. But not surprising given the second class citizenship of Xdebug in PDT ...
I am getting this error - is there any fix?
Upgrade to the milestone release, that solved the problem for me: The update site: http://download.eclipse.org/tools/pdt/updates/2.2/milestones
I confirm it indeed works correctly with the latest milestone. I take the liberty to mark it as solved. Many thanks to the devs for fixing that.

I have the same problem, please tell me how I install/update with the latest milestone, I am new to this! Running Eclipse PHP on windows 7. Odd thing is that my Eclipse-xDebug configuration ran smoothly until today, and the only thing I know has changed since last time is an updated version of firefox. However, the same problem appears if I choose internet explorer as web browser for eclipse, so it is not related. Any clues? Thanks for any help, Jon
Milestone fixes my problem too. To update PDT choose Help -> Install new software... then click Add button to add repository with url "http://download.eclipse.org/tools/pdt/updates/2.2/milestones". After that follow the update procedure.
No longer reproducible. Please, update pdt first. Closing...
