When a server connection fails there is an overlay icon on the server presentation and a short description stating that the refresh failed. This is not enough for figuring out what the problem may be. If you do the refresh manually you will get an error dialog with a link to the error log. If you go there you will probably be able to figure out the problem if you know how to read the stack trace. I think it would be better if we could handle certain common exceptions and describe what may be the problem then presenting these in a service message.
-1 for a service message. Failing connections are a common scenario, e.g. when connectivity is lost. I agree that we need a better error reporting but I would prefer to show a more specific error messages in the tooltip possibly offering a shortcut to see a more detailed message with hints to fix the problem.
Ok. Altered the subject accordingly.
