Build Identifier: 20101217-1058 Context: creating a new Remote C/C++ Project. When trying to Browse... a remote Location: in the "New Remote Project" pane, an error is thrown if the remote system is running aix and this ssh: debug1: Remote protocol version 2.0, remote software version OpenSSH_5.2p1NMOD_2.7-hpn13v5 debug1: match: OpenSSH_5.2p1NMOD_2.7-hpn13v5 pat OpenSSH* I get this error string in a box: "Could not open connection Reason: Failed to execute runnable (java.lan.NullPointerException) " From that point on , no new Remote C/C++ projects can be created to any remote systems. I have to quit eclipse, remove the local $HOME/workspace and start from scratch. If I try again and Browse... a linux system running: debug1: Remote protocol version 2.0, remote software version OpenSSH_5.4p1NMOD_2.11-hpn13v7 debug1: match: OpenSSH_5.4p1NMOD_2.11-hpn13v7 pat OpenSSH* ...I can create a new project. If I then try creating a new project and Browse... the AIX 6.1 system, I get the same error once more. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. New Remote C/C++ project 2. New... Connection: ( to an AIX 6.1 system running sshd 5.3 3. Location: Browse...
The same issue happens with a remote linux cluster here running: debug1: Remote protocol version 2.0, remote software version OpenSSH_5.4p1NMOD_2.11-hpn13v7 GSI_GSSAPI_20100310 GSI KRB5 MECHGLUE debug1: match: OpenSSH_5.4p1NMOD_2.11-hpn13v7 GSI_GSSAPI_20100310 GSI KRB5 MECHGLUE pat OpenSSH* I think the indigo remote tools needs more testing with a variety of remote system types.
This problem has been fixed in 5.0 (head), but I'm not sure if it will get back ported to 4.0 at this stage.
I also verified that this is fixed in 5.0 for AIX 6.1.
