It would be helpful to have a resolved state for topic in the forum.

In every forum I've participated on, the OP usually edits their post and prefixes the subject line with [SOLVED].

I believe the workaround is to become/elect committers as moderators.  Please see bug 370587

Unlike Bugzilla, forums don't really have states.
