revert file is next to save on the editors popup menu.  When using a system with a bad mouse or in a mobile environment, it is not unusual to accidentally get the wrong item in the menu.   It would be better if such opposite actions were not next to each other in the menu.   I have reverted when I meant to save many times.

Revert belongs into the same category/group as save and it has been like that for many years (since 3.1).
