Description Andrew Niefer CLA 2010-11-23 10:59:06 EST
In the launcher on windows, there are cases where we consult the registry to find the vm.

In this case we look for a HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment\CurrentVersion.
If this doesn't exist, we take "Java Runtime Environement\x.y" where x.y is the first vm with a version greater than or equal to 1.4.

We should consider increasing this to 1.5

Is there any way to default to using the highest version available? You make it sound like we take the lowest version available that is greater than or equal to 1.4.
Comment 2 Andrew Niefer CLA 2010-11-29 11:19:21 EST
We can probably take the highest version, currently it is not the highest or lowest, but rather the first one encountered that is at least 1.4. I don't know if there is any particular order to the keys as we read them from the registry.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
