Also the default refresh interval is set to 15 minutes which I feel is way too long. Maybe five minutes is enough.

What is the current overhead for polling plans? If it's reasonably low we could consider enabling this by default. Before we go ahead we should do the same thing we did for the Task List to lower CPU and network overhead: If there is no user activity the polling interval doubles until the user is active again.

CPU Usage Estimation for six refresh runs

This text file shows profiling data obtained from six refresh runs in rapid succession. The numbers are similar when doing only one run.
