Description Wayne Beaton CLA 2010-11-22 13:24:14 EST
This is highly unusual. The Webtools incubator has requested a release review for the JPA Diagram Editor component. This is not strictly supported by the EDP, but it is IMHO the best way to move forward.

The team has a need for a 0.5.0 release by Dec 1. I initially informed them that there is no such thing as a component release and urged them to move the code either into an existing project or create a new one. This technology aligns well with the Dali project (and the Dali project will accept them), but the timing of the required release does not align with the June 2011 next release of Dali. They opted instead to create a subproject of Dali. Creating a new project as a workaround is not desirable. Instead, we are bending the rules a bit to allow a component release.

Bug 330729 has been created to consider options for making this sort of thing part of a future edition of the EDP.

In the meantime, with the blessing of the Webtools PMC, we are moving ahead with a "component" release; the project and PMC has committed to moving to Dali in time for the Indigo release.
