In the 'Languages Independent of JDT wizard' documentation (http://www.eclipse.org/Xtext/documentation/1_0_1/xtext.html#java_independent_languages) the information is missing that the optional project wizard generation will generate code that has in indirect dependency to the JDT. (see org.eclipse.xtext.ui.util.PluginProjectFactory)

The JDT dependency can be avoided by adding "pluginProject = false" in the SimpleProjectWizardFragment (See also bug 336217).
