Build Identifier: 3.4.2 Our translators create the Simplified Chinese index file and sort the keywords themselves. When the EclipseHelp software runs, the sorting is messed up according to them. I looked for a product customization option (HELP_DATA) to see if there was an option to stop the software from sorting the Indexes but I didn't see one. Maybe that could be an option to allow the application to stop the software from resorting the index files when displayed. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a Simplified Chinese index file and sort the keywords appropriately 2. Run the software and bring up the application in Simplified Chinese 3. Bring up the Index from the Help system 4. Index items have been resorted by software at runtime and are not correct

Created attachment 182830 [details] A picture where the translators said the Simplified Chinese index is not sorted correctly when running through the EclipsHelp software.
Eclipse 3.4 has problems with sorting international characters - see Bug 248079 - Eclipse 3.5 or later should work a lot better. We are not going to be able to retrofit the fix for Bug 248079 to 3.4 so your options would be to move up to a newer version of Eclipse ( recommended ) or to apply the patch to a local copy of the help projects and build your own version of the help bundles. There is no way to turn off the sorting of the index without modifying Eclipse source.
This is already fixed in 3.5, resolving as WORKSFORME, the resolution used when a bug has been fixed in a later version. There are no plans to retrofit this change to 3.4.
