Description Eric Roberts CLA 2010-11-09 10:27:30 EST
Build Identifier: Latest Helios...cannot start Eclipse to get this info

When I start eclipse, I get the splash screen. After about 10 seconds, the splash screen disappears and I get a alert box telling me that an error has occurred and it directs me to the .log file in .metadata. This worked fine over the weekend on my Win 7 box and was fine Friday on this box (XP). Nothing has changed to Eclipse or to either OS as far as I know from Friday to today (Tuesday). I don't believe anything has been updated on the OS, Java, or Eclipse or any of it's plugins. I will attach the log file after I submit.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click on Icon for Eclipse (linked to eclipse.exe)
2. Error occurs

This is the .log file that the alert directed me to. If you need any other files, let me know.

Did you try using another workspace?

> eclipse.exe -data C:\tmp-ws

I did find a way to correct the issue. If I delete the metadata folder, eclipse will load, so it looks like something in the metadata folder became corrupted.

Yes...i even tried downloading a fresh copy of eclipse to make sure it wasn't a plugin issue. It looks like the metadata folder was corrupted. I deleted that and the project files and it looks like it is good. I don;t know what caused the folder to be corrupted.
