Build Identifier: Latest Helios...cannot start Eclipse to get this info When I start eclipse, I get the splash screen. After about 10 seconds, the splash screen disappears and I get a alert box telling me that an error has occurred and it directs me to the .log file in .metadata. This worked fine over the weekend on my Win 7 box and was fine Friday on this box (XP). Nothing has changed to Eclipse or to either OS as far as I know from Friday to today (Tuesday). I don't believe anything has been updated on the OS, Java, or Eclipse or any of it's plugins. I will attach the log file after I submit. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Click on Icon for Eclipse (linked to eclipse.exe) 2. Error occurs
Created attachment 182727 [details] .log file This is the .log file that the alert directed me to. If you need any other files, let me know.
Did you try using another workspace? > eclipse.exe -data C:\tmp-ws
I did find a way to correct the issue. If I delete the metadata folder, eclipse will load, so it looks like something in the metadata folder became corrupted.
(In reply to comment #2) > Did you try using another workspace? > > > eclipse.exe -data C:\tmp-ws Yes...i even tried downloading a fresh copy of eclipse to make sure it wasn't a plugin issue. It looks like the metadata folder was corrupted. I deleted that and the project files and it looks like it is good. I don;t know what caused the folder to be corrupted.
Looks like a duplicate of bug 149121.
