Do you get the problem with Eclipse 3.6.1?

I ownloaded 3.6.1, unzipped to /tmp and it works fine, I was able to a dda java class.
However, what is the pathway/steps to follow to upgrade the existing 3.5.2
Thanks

Since you got your Eclipse installation from the Fedora packages, you should take this up with Fedora's package maintainers.

Afetr a uccessfull run of eclipse 3.6.1 which I extracted to /tmp, then closing
it, I went to the
fedora menu > programming > eclipse
to fopen the version 3.5.2. in order to see a way to upgrade, I started getting
the following error which is not allowing me to open the old version

Locking is not possible in the directory
"/usr/lib64/eclipse/configuration/org.eclipse.osgi". A common reason is that
the file system or Runtime Environment does not support file locking for that
location. Please choose a different location, or disable file locking passing
"-Dosgi.locking=none" as a VM argument.
/usr/lib64/eclipse/configuration/org.eclipse.osgi/.manager/.fileTableLock

Is there anything in the .log?
Comment 8 salam ELIAS CLA 2010-11-05 08:01:03 EDT
Yes, there was a huge entry. What I did, I ran the add/remove software in fedora, I noticed that there was an update to 3.5.2-2 (the initial was 3.5.2-1), rebooted my machine.
I was able to open eclipse correctly. The only thing is that I really woul like to upgrade to 3.6 but dont know how and on fedora foirum nobody is responding since 2 days

Thanks very much for your help
Comment 9 Dani Megert CLA 2010-11-05 08:05:44 EDT
Are you saying that you can now create the new class? If not, can you check whether clicking on the 'Finish' button create log entries?
Comment 10 salam ELIAS CLA 2010-11-05 08:38:42 EDT
Yes, afer upgrading to 3.5.2-2

In fact even upgrading to 3.5.2-2, I continued to have some strange errors and behaviores.

I ddownloaded version 3.6.1, extracted it to /tmp (as I dont know how to upgrade on Fedora13), It works like a charm except I have a message that pops up every now and then idicating the following

Could not save master table to file '/home/salam/workspace/.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.core.resources/.safetable/org.eclipse.core.resources'.
/home/salam/workspace/.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.core.resources/.safetable/org.eclipse.core.resources (Permission denied)

I click on OK and thgen continue work as if nothing went wrong
