I open a file to edit.
Make changes.
Save.
Then I get a message that the file could not be written. According to the details there is a permission denied.
Then the editor wants to reload the file from the system but it is empty!

This only happens on certain files. No clear pattern has yet emerged for which files this happens.

The file is fine until I try to save. There are no other programs touching that file. The file is located on a samba network share.

Somehow eclipse is throwing away the contents of the file when saving.

I use hg command line, no eclipse plugin. There is however no change to the files in question nor does it occur with any connection to hg updates.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Cannot help you here as I have no idea why this happens. It just happens with certain files repeatedly.

I have examined the eclipse logs and the logs in /var/log and /var/log/samba. None of these logs make any mention of an error.

this is not an out of disk error. I have at least 8GB of space.

It's the same code path.
