Description Carolyn MacLeod CLA 2010-10-26 12:47:42 EDT
AIX Motif build id: I20101025-1800

- open a new workspace and go to workbench
- right-click on Open Perspective tool to get context menu
- select Dock on -> Left
The perspective toolbar disappears, and it is not drawn on the left side.

Switching perspectives does not draw the toolbar.
Reset perspective does not draw the toolbar.

You can get it to appear by opening a brand new perspective (for example, CVS Repository Browsing, but *only* if it has not been opened before).

You can make it disappear again by selecting Dock on -> Top right, and then
Dock on -> Left (again).

Exiting and restarting Eclipse will draw the toolbar correctly.

I think this only happens on AIX Motif. It may be an SWT event problem, but I don't know what event(s) are expected, or when. If someone from UI can point me to a good place to put a breakpoint, and tell me what needs to work for the toolbar to redraw, then I can have a look at this, or we can look at it together.

I have a similar problem found on Windows 7.

When I move some toolbar entries to the left dock then I can see them. When I restart Eclipse then they are disappeared. When I open an editor and maximize this part then the toolbar is drawn again.

This happened under

Eclipse DSL Tools

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. As such, we're closing this bug.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it and reopen this bug. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
