Sapphire needs a logo to be used on website and throughout tooling. Project Logo ============ The project logo will be used on project web page and marketing materials. The logo would ideally be in a vector format since it may appear in a variety of contexts, not all of which can be anticipated at this time. Design Ideas Gemstone. While the project name very nearly begs for the use of a sapphire colored gemstone, this should not be a standalone element. It probably does make sense as a key design element though. It also probably lends itself to being easily recognized when scaled down to the very small sizes required for the Eclipse-resident icons. UI Widgets. Other elements that could be incorporated are some user interface components (e.g., radio buttons, checkboxes, dropdown list, etc), since Sapphire is a user interface development framework. Eclipse Graphics ================ About Box : A smaller version of the logo, or a variant, to be used in the Eclipse about dialog box (shown below). I believe it needs to be 32x32. In this context the logo is placed on a square button. Looks best if the logo itself is not square and has transparent background. View Icon : A smaller version (16x16) of the About Box icon. Configuration File : File icon to use for Sapphire configuration files that developers edit. This is a 16x16 image, but should ideally be different from the View icon and should incorporate the image used elsewhere in Eclipse to represent a configuration file. We'd also need a version of this that has the 'new' sparkle on it, for use in the New Gallery. Generic wizard banner to use with all sapphire wizards in the SDK.

Thanks, Jean. These look great. Could you also attach the original vector graphic? I'd like to archive it in the project in case we have to come back later and produce different sizes. Please convert the text into vector form too so that that the file doesn't depend on fonts which may have IP re-distribution issues.

Updated the website banner and the about box icon in the build. Archived all of the image files in CVS. The last part that needs to happen is the file icon. Will work on that next.
Note that even though this is an 0.3 plan item, I am also adding the new graphics to the 0.2.1 release.
Created attachment 188969 [details] Sapphire File Icon I used the outline of the standard Eclipse file icon to crop a few rays from the 32px logo. Not too bad. The logo theme is easily recognizable.
