Hello, I want to generate reports in a specific output format, .doc, to my Microsoft Word 2003 can open it. But my Birt version (2.6.1) generates documents in .docx, to Microsoft Word 2007 (really Birt generates documents in .doc, but this is only the extension; the content of the file is prepared to Office 2007). How can I generate reports which can be opened with Office 2003? Thanks.
Could you attach the generated doc file for me to check?
In BIRT 2.6.1, the doc emitter creates the doc file as Word 2003 XML Document. It is supported by Word 2007. Set as worksforme. Feel free to reopen if there is any issues.
Hi, I still have a doubt. There's any posibility to generate the documents in original .doc? Because the users with Word 2003 can't open Word 2003 XML Document normally (and today there are a lot of people using this program), and I can't force them to install a converter to read the documents. Thanks.

Do you mean opening the generated doc file by Microsoft Office Word Viewer 2003 instead of Microsoft Office Word 2003?
No, I can't open it with Microsoft Office Word 2003, and this is what I want. When I try to read the document, Microsoft Office Word 2003 show me a message warning about to install a converter to be able to read the content of the file, like if I try to open a .docx file. But the application I'm making is oriented to inexperienced users and I have to create documents that they can read without any problem.

Hi, well, it's complicated to reproduce the issue, because I have the converter that let me read .docx created with Microsoft Word 2007. It happens to a fellow worker that at this moment isn't here. When I get to reproduce de issue I'll attach the screenshot. Thanks for the help.
Hi Xiaoying, finally we will include a link to the converter next to the option to download the file, so the user who can't read the doc file, must download first the converter for Office Word 2003. Thanks for all.
Set as worksforme based on above comments.
