I just spent hours trying to figure out why my git project wouldn't show changes to files when I would run "git status". It turns out that I must have accidentally selected Team-Assume Unchanged from egit. When I right click on my project, select Team, and the menu pops up, the option Assume Unchanged appears right where my mouse is at. If I let the mouse go, it selects that option. In my mind, this is an option that should ask for a confirmation. It isn't something that many people would do regularly. And there is no feedback that it has been done. I was just toying with egit for the first time over the weekend. Today I went back to using the command line to do real work, and then had all sort of troubles. It didn't register that my playing with egit might have done something like this. Also, there should be a way to "undo" this option from the Team menu UI as well. As it is now, you have to undo it from the command line.
This menu entry is now in the Team > Advanced submenu, so it's less likely to be activated by accident. To undo it, there is Team > Advanced > No Assume Unchanged.
