Description Miles Parker CLA 2010-10-15 14:49:40 EDT
I'm ready (I think) to take the plunge. Seems as good a time as any while my CVS related stuff is broken anyway..

And wow, I just realized that I can use the GIT mirrors to take care of my dependencies on another Eclipse SVN project..

Oh sorry, for current repos details, please see:

Comment 2 Miles Parker CLA 2010-10-15 15:01:33 EDT
Sorry one more thing. I don't know if this is a good time to remove dross, but if you aren't simply copying the whole dir structure, please get rid of:

/org.eclipse.amp/org.eclipse.amp/releng (replaced by /org.eclipse.amp/releng)
/org.eclipse.amp/org.ecipse.amp.doc.all-feature
/org.eclipse.amp/org.eclipse.amp.amf.testing.edit

But if it's any trouble don't bother.

We use the git-cvsimport tool to create the git repo. We would suggest that you take this opportunity to either start fresh (tag a release, then perform an initial commit, and let us archive CVS by making it read only) or we can re-structure your CVS.

Hi,

If its not too much trouble, I'd like to go the latter route. The changes are minor and I'd rather be sure that I have a clean transition from CVS to Git i.e. the initial state of Git matches the last state of CVS exactly. (Probably better from IP perspective too.)

Let me know when you want me to freeze commits on the CVS side and if you need me to do anything else here.

thanks very much,

Miles

Ok.

Ok how about we 'freeze' CVS(I'll mark it read only) on Friday morning(10am Oct 22) and I"ll start the restructure and import.

Perfect, thanks!

Ok the import has finished. The git repo is git.eclipse.org/gitroot/amp/org.eclipse.amp.git . Please check it out and let me know if everything is as expected.

I'll close this out as fixed and assume all is well. Please reopen if that is not the case.

Hi Denis,

Yes, sorry I didn't resolve it myself, and thanks, everything is working perfectly.
