I believe the submission system is supposed to send out weekly email reminders to those speakers who haven't signed their agreements.

If these emails are going out, there should be a record in the submission system. I checked emails for my sub sys account, and saw one there that went out on Sept. 16. Therefore I don't think these are being recorded only in the rolled-up emails, but should be visible in the sub sys. (NOTE: I don't know how to view the contents of the rolled-up emails, or I would check that myself.)

I did a random check of speakers who haven't yet signed, and I didn't see any record that emails have been sent to them.

If this is not working, it's not a big deal for ESE 2010. We can remind them manually.

But for ECon 2011, there are a lot more speakers so we need this to be working, ideally by Dec. 15, 2010.

Is this related to bug 248811 any how?

Bug 248811 seems to be suggesting that we should have a button in the sub sys whereby people with certain privileges can cause an email to be sent that will remind the speakers on a submission to sign their SA.

I opened this bug, however, because I wasn't sure that the auto-reminders being sent by the sub sys were working correctly.

If the auto-reminders are working correctly, then I personally don't see any need for a button to remind manually.

Withholding speaker discounts seems to be work to encourage speakers to sign.

Maybe I'm a meanie, but I much prefer this method. No nags, no email. There's a carrot. Agree?
