through JAVA main method it works fine.
Does the NPE only found only on this report or any report deployed on WAS 6.1? Could you please attache the report for us to investigate?

Hi Monika, I can not reproduce this issue in our WAS 6.1 using the BIRT 2.6.1 release build. I was using the report design you attached but replaced datasource with flatfile.

has anyone find a workaround for this issue? I've run test with WAS 6.1.0.19 and WAS 6.1.0.23 and magically the bug is gone any idea why?

Xiaoying, Try using WAS 6.1.0.11 I was able to get the error, I suppose any version below will fail too. Regards
The WAS application server 6.1 was downloaded from http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27007435 And I did not see and minor version (6.1.0.19 or 6.1.0.23) Suggest to upgrade the was version in your environment as we can not reproduce this issue in the official 6.1 version.
