Description avpoubs CLA 2010-10-01 11:33:35 EDT
Build Identifier: 20100917-0705

I can't compare two php files with the new updated version of my Eclipse IDE for PHP. I select my 2 files in PHP Explorer, then right click and select "compare with > each other", the result is "can't open editor"...

However, it is possible to compare all other file types: html, css, js, .htaccess, etc.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. select two files in PHP explorer
2. right click on file
3. select "Compare With > Each Other" menu

This seems to be platform independent. I'm using OSX , a colleague using Linux (Ubuntu).
Neither compare each other nor any other comparison does work.

Duplicate of bug 324051.

I am using Ubuntu Linux 10.04 (lucid) and can confirm this Issue.
It must be a Problem with the PHP Editor View.

Follow these steps to update PDT:

1. Download "pdt-Update-M201010080201.zip" from https://hudson.eclipse.org/hudson/job/cbi-pdt-2.2-helios/534/artifact/build/M201010080201/.
2. In Eclipse, go to Help > Install New Software...
3. Click "Add..." and then "Archive...". Select the ZIP file and click OK.
4. Check the version of PDT you want (SDK or runtime), and continue with the update.

Hope this helps.

(Thanks to Roy for his help).

Hello Glen,

There is no Build #534 in Hudson and all other Builds above #494 are unstable.
Comment 7 Axel CLA 2010-10-11 08:52:22 EDT
I tried the last instable build (#539) where just 2 performance tests failed.
After installing it as described above, the compare bug was solved.

I'm just not very relaxed using an instable build for production purposes but this feature is essential because it also breaks the "Apply Patch" view.

For anyone who's interested, here the hudson URL from where I downloaded the update:

https://hudson.eclipse.org/hudson/job/cbi-pdt-2.2-helios/539/artifact/build/M201010110334/

Please note that this may be removed, but you can find a successful (but instable) build via the PDT job in hudson:

https://hudson.eclipse.org/hudson/job/cbi-pdt-2.2-helios

The build seems to have been removed now for some reason. Apparently it was unstable as well.

I agree. I believe an official update site will be available soon.
