Description selvi CLA 2010-10-01 06:57:15 EDT
Build Identifier: I20100608-0911

In cvs I have a repository path in '/'.
but in helios eclipse 3.6 doesn't allows me to keep that as repository path.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Click File -> New -> CVS -> CVS Repository Location
2. Fill in the host, user, password and repository path as '/'
3. but it say's 'The repository path cannot end with a slash (/)'
4. In old version of eclipse it was supported.

Moving to platform .. this is not related to Eclipse's CVS servers.
Comment 2 selvi CLA 2010-10-08 05:07:33 EDT
kindly share some ideas to over come this issue.
I am facing this after migration from eclipse galelio to eclipse helios.

eclipse helios :
Version: 3.6.0
Build id: I20100608-0911

eclipse galelio :
Build id: 20090619-0625

Starting from Eclipse 3.3 (Europe) you get that error message. Why don't you just remove the slash?

Given the above, this looks like a wrong observation. Are you sure you're migrating from Galileo?

Thanks for your reply.
I'm sorry that I have mistakenly assumed that in Galileo it is working.

Let me explain the issue.
The CVS server which we are using, needs following command to be exported for the CVSROOT variable.

export CVSROOT=":pserver:selvi@<ip-address>:/"

So far we were using this only, but when I tried using eclipse I am facing the problem while connecting CVS server.

All out repository is placed under / only.

Kindly help me to solve this issue.

Kindly update the status of this issue. Is there anyway to proceed with same cvs setup and use the eclipse.
If this is as a feature in Helios, for resolving any patch can be given to remove that checking part of CVS Repository Location.
Thanks in advance.

Will you be able to verify the fix when it gets to a nightly build[1]?

Comment 8 Tomasz Zarna CLA 2010-12-17 06:33:51 EST
I'm not able to verify the fix myself, because CVSNT doesn't allow me to create a repository with just "/" for the path.
Comment 9 Tomasz Zarna CLA 2011-01-17 05:00:28 EST
No feedback, removing the target milestone.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
