Sorry, we cannot backport anything to 3.6.1. I meant backporting bug 307280 to 3.6 branch.

We would have to backport both bug 307280 and its blocker bug 322329. Whether we need to backport bug 324993 is still undecided.

Prakash spent some time investigating what's happening in bug 324993, as the result he found an issue in Platform/UI which makes the UI freeze when the IProgressService.run is called from different threads. This is being addressed in bug 326330. Backporting a fix for the later is a better way of solving the issue from bug 323993, comment 0 then replacing IRunnableWithProgress with Jobs (another possible fix for bug 323993).

Fixes for bug 307280 and bug 322329 has been committed to R3_6_maintenance branch and released. They should be available in M20100929-0800 build which starts in an hour. I hold off marking this bug as FIXED till bug 326330 is fixed and backported.

Sam is fine with the fixes in Platform/Compare, he can't wait for the UI fix, which in his opinion is a minor issue.
