Description Jaime CLA 2010-09-17 08:18:17 EDT
Build Identifier: 20100617-1415

Whenever you use autocompletion the text isn't correctly displayed. At the right end, instead of the delimitators (as commas, spaces and so on) it appears text that seems to point to declarations of Eclipse constants like JavaElementLabels_comma_stringg=, or JavaElementLabels_category_separator_string=dissasemble_comma

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Installed Eclipse latest version for Vistax64 -> file: eclipse-jee-helios-win32-x86_64
2.Installed Spanish Babel Language Pack thrue Eclipse itself, with Help-Install New Software.
3.Open a file and press Ctrl+Space for the autocompletion.

I've found that the bug affects menus too. For example options in the File menu are disabled when they shouldn't, like Close, Close all, Import and Export...
There are several menu options that are disabled or doesn't work, like the said above.
The corrupted values shown appears in the status bar too.

I solved the funny content assist proposals problem.

It was a problem during the import of the Eclipse properties files. We trimmed the space at the end of the following strings in org.eclipse.jdt.ui/ui/org/eclipse/jdt/internal/ui/JavaUIMessages.properties

After the trim, Java treated the back slash for the escaped space character as a line continuation character, and concatenated the next few strings together.

JavaElementLabels_concat_string=\ -\
JavaElementLabels_comma_string=,\
JavaElementLabels_declseparator_string=\ :\
JavaElementLabels_category_separator_string=\
disassembler_comma = ,

The proper fix is to correct the import code. But, that will only fix the import of the propperties files in next release. In the meantime, I just added a space in the translation: translate "\ -\" to "\ -\ "

Let's try the language packs tomorrow.

Other than the funny content assist proposals problem, I was able to install eclipse-jee-helios-win32-x86_64 + Babel Spanish language packs. File menus and Window menus were all translated and enabled for me properly. One thing to note is that I did not install ALL Spanish language packs. I just install the Babel Spanish language packs for Eclipse, Equinox/p2, and WTP. Can you try that?

I tried uninstalling all the packages unless the ones you said but made no difference. I added a screen with the instalation as i left it now.

Your language pack list looks just like mine!

Another thing to try:
- install eclipse-jee-helios-win32-x86_64
- download the language packs from http://download.eclipse.org/technology/babel/babel_language_packs/R0.8.0/helios.php#es
- unzip the language packs into the Eclipse installation directory

See if that's any better. Also, please attach your Eclipse .log file from the workspace.
