I20100912-2000 I recently switched from Windows XP to Windows 7, and now I frequently see the whole screen flashing (black) when I start using a Tracker. I didn't see that with Windows XP. This often happens when I move views in the workbench window. It happens most of the time when I run the snippet from bug 317024.
Works for me with HEAD. http://www.eclipse.org/swt/cvs.php I ran the snippet in bug 317024 several times and it never caused the whole screen to flash. Are you able to determine why it only flashes for you sometimes ?
(In reply to comment #1) > I ran the snippet in bug 317024 several times and it never caused the whole > screen to flash. We both just wrote "run the snippet", but I actually meant "run the snippet and then press the 't' key to start the tracker". It mostly flashes the first time I press 't', but sometimes I also have to cancel the tracker and press 't' again. When I hammer 't' and 'Esc' alternately, it flashes quite often. > Are you able to determine why it only flashes for you sometimes ? Not really. I guess the problem is there all the time, but I only see it if the screen is really redrawn at the very millisecond in which it is black. Sometimes, it's only the upper half of the screen, or the top 100px. Hard to tell exactly, since it its really just a flash. But I have the Windows task bar on the left and that one also flashes (so it's not only certain windows).
I'm running 32-bit JDK 1.6.0_21 and Eclipse win32 32-bit, but the OS is Windows 7 64-bit.
I'm also seeing the whole screen flash black for a split second. This happens whenever I drag a view from one docking position to another. e.g. In the Java perspective, if I open the Declaration view, it opens by default in the bottom-right / south-east docking position. If I drag it to any other position (North, South, East, West etc.) the whole screen flashes black for a split second. The same is true for any other view, not just "Declaration". My platform specs are as follows: - Intel core I7 with nvidia quadro graphics card - Windows 7 64 bit - java version "1.6.0_10" (build 1.6.0_10-b33) - Eclipse Version: Helios Service Release 1 Build id: 20100917-0705
(In reply to comment #4) Same specs here (Thinkpad W510) with Eclipse 3.7. I don't see this flashing in any other application (though I'm not aware of others that use a tracker).
I also have the same black flash with Eclipse 4.2.2 and also Eclipse 4.3 M6 on Window 7 64Bit, Java 64Bit.
