Lately (past two weeks or so) after a while when in the .java file, eclipse locks ups varying from 10 seconds to 1 minute, then shuts down. It's only when working in the .java files. Everything else is smooth. -thanks for you help. -Chris -- Configuration Details -- Product: Eclipse 1.3.0.20100617-0520 (org.eclipse.epp.package.java.product) Installed Features: org.eclipse.jdt 3.6.0.v20100526-0800-7z8XFUJFMTfCWGoVuHImpms9H155
What version of the JVM are you using? Do you have any third-party plugins installed? Does it happen while you are editing, or while Eclipse is idle? Did anything change (e.g., install some new software, etc.) at the same time this started happening? What operating system are you using? Are you having problems with any other software, or just with Eclipse? Does it happen with all workspaces, or only with one workspace in particular? Is there anything of interest in the error log? What exactly do you mean by "eclipse locks ups... then shuts down"?
What version of the JVM are you using? 6 with update 21. Do you have any third-party plugins installed? just the android sdk Does it happen while you are editing, or while Eclipse is idle? editing Did anything change (e.g., install some new software, etc.) at the same time this started happening? no What operating system are you using? xp sp2 Are you having problems with any other software, or just with Eclipse? I haven't noticed it with any other software. Does it happen with all workspaces, or only with one workspace in particular? i'm a bit of a programming n00b, so i usually stick to the default workspace. Is there anything of interest in the error log? this is from the error log: # A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment: # EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at pc=0x00000065, pid=2340, tid=2016 What exactly do you mean by "eclipse locks ups... then shuts down"? It locks up in pulses. When it locks up, the CPU usage goes to 100% and stays there for 10 - 60 seconds. Then releases for about 10 seconds. Then locks up again with CPU usage at 100%. It does this cycle 4 or 5 times, then Eclipse kills itself. thanks for all your help.

>locks ups varying from 10 seconds to 1 minute, then shuts down. Please create stack dumps while waiting and attach them here. For details see: http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/How_to_report_a_deadlock.
Chris, please provide more info.
Sorry, not reproducible here. Either provide steps or at least the requested stack dumps.
