The table background cannot be made transparent so that the background of the parent widget shines through. The reason is a qx CanvasLayout "_columnArea" which seems to hold all columns and has no appearance set. See Ctor of org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Table.

I am wrong. Making background transparent is possible using the css "Table#background-color". Sorry for the noice :-(
