Build Identifier: I20100608-0911 A fresh Helios installation using Java build 1.6.0_21-b07, Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 17.0-b17, mixed mode, sharing, never completes "Building workspace (100%)". Whether starting Eclipse with the -clean optin makes no difference. C:\eclipse>eclipse -clean After some minutes it is stuck, and any attempt to cancelling the operation also hangs forever. I've been using the same workspace for years, and building completes fine when using Eclipse Galileo. Some resonings: The problem might well reside in my workspace, such that if I started with a fresh workspace the problem would be gone. But, never-the-less this is a change in behaviour from it's Eclipse predecessors, and such it represents a major obstacle for productivity. In my opinion, this can be nothing but a bug! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. start Eclipse (-clean) 2. wait some minutes 3. Building workspace (100%) stuck
Please get a thread dump of the Eclipse process when the build appears to be stuck. http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/How_to_report_a_deadlock
Please reopen if you can provide a thread dump

I am facing a similar problem while importing already existing projects into a workspace. Eclipse shows "Building Workspace (100%)" for a long time almost an hour, but never completes.
The thread dump looks like there is a deadlock between two Subversion thread - the one running "core" and the thread running Subversion decorator. Worker-4 Subversion decorator has the workspace modification lock -> blocked by thread "Worker 1" Worker-1 Subversion core waits on the workspace lock
This is the Subclipse plug-in issue, so please report it to the Subclipse tracker: org.tigris.subversion.subclipse.core.status.SynchronizerSyncInfoCache
